Difference between Thermomix models
Above you can see how the last few models have been improved.
As the TM6 is wifi enabled, it has improved over the years with extra functions without having to create a new Thermomix
The move between the TM31 and the TM5/TM6 is the most significant: the bowl is slightly bigger (10% larger); the Varoma is also slightly bigger and they look different – the TM5 & TM6 have a touchscreen and dial whereas the TM31 had buttons to select the temperature and knob to turn for speed. My own TM31 had a metal Varoma.
TM5 to TM6
The TM6 looks similar to the TM5 but it has a bigger screen (making it much easier to read – a big win for my older customers) and the TM6 has a lot more functions than its predecessor.
I found I use my TM6 a lot more than when I had a TM5 or TM31, as the ability to search on screen and not have to synchronise every time I added recipes, made it more user friendly. The additional functions also are great, particularly the slow cook function.
Languages – you can change the language on your TM6 so the display instructions (not recipe instructions) can be in your language. NB Your recipe instructions will be in whatever language the recipe is in.
Chinese language has been added to the TM6 which has opened up a whole new customer base and some fantastic authentic Chinese recipes have been added – each country creates their own recipes which you can view on cookidoo.
TM6 modes: I love the egg boiler mode and the pre-clean function where you select what you’ve been cooking. See a breakdown of TM6 functions here My favourite change for TM5 to TM6 is the ability to search for recipes on your Thermomix screen, meaning I can just type in béchamel – and there is it; press start cooking and you’re off.
Adjusting portion sizes has been added
TM6 functions (you swipe across your screen to find these) Weighing, Chopping, Turbo, Kneading, Blending, Pre-clean, Warm up mode, Egg boiler mode, Rice cooker mode (the only one I don’t use – I prefer to use the simmering basket), Fermentation, Slow cook (up to 8 hours)
TM6 Modes for use with accessories:
Peeler- used with blade cover peeler accessory ,
Slicing& Grating used with cutter accessory ,
Sensor
Spiralizer – used with Cutter+ accessory
