Difference between Thermomix models
Above you can see how the last few Thermomix models have been improved.
As the TM6 is wifi enabled, it has improved over the years with extra functions without having to create a new Thermomix and the same will happen with the TM7.
The TM6 is now the old Thermomix and is no longer available to buy unless you are a commercial customer – to buy thermomix, either commercially or for home use, you can give me a call on 07771 648111
The move between the TM31 and the TM5/TM6 was significant: the bowl is 10% larger; the Varoma is also slightly bigger and they look different – the TM5 & TM6 have a touchscreen and dial whereas the TM31 had buttons to select the temperature and knob to turn for speed. My own TM31 had a metal Varoma.
Then we move to the new Thermomix – the TM7, which has a much bigger screen, the bowl design is different, the varoma shape has changed to create 45% more capacity and there is a significant difference in the motor sound – silent below speed 2.
TM5 to TM6
The TM6 looks similar to the TM5 but it has a bigger screen and the TM5 is only wifi enabled with something called teh ‘Cook-key’. The TM6 and TM7 have wifi enabled , making searching for recipes really easy (the TM5 required you to ‘synchronise’ and the TM6 has a lot more functions than its predecessor.
I found I use my TM6 a lot more than when I had a TM5 or TM31, as the ability to search on screen and not have to synchronise every time I added recipes, made it more user friendly. The additional functions also are great, particularly the slow cook function.
TM6 to TM7 – here the design has changed we no longer have the casing, allowing for a larger bowl to be introduced on the base in the future.
Languages – you can change the language on your TM6/TM7 so the display instructions (not recipe instructions) can be in your language. NB Your recipe instructions will be in whatever language the recipe is in.
Chinese language has been added to the TM6 which has opened up a whole new customer base and some fantastic authentic Chinese recipes have been added – each country creates their own recipes which you can view on cookidoo.
TM6 & TM7 modes: I love the egg boiler mode and the pre-clean function where you select what you’ve been cooking. See a breakdown of TM6 functions here My favourite change for TM5 to TM6/TM7 is the ability to search for recipes on your Thermomix screen, meaning I can just type in béchamel – and there is it; press start cooking and you’re off.
Adjusting portion sizes has been added
TM6 & TM7 functions Weighing, Chopping, Turbo, Kneading, Blending, Pre-clean, Warm up mode, Egg boiler mode, Rice cooker mode (the only one I don’t use – I prefer to use the simmering basket), Fermentation, Slow cook (up to 8 hours)
TM6/TM7 Modes for use with accessories:
Peeler- used with blade cover peeler accessory ,
Slicing& Grating used with cutter accessory ,
Sensor
Spiralizer – used with Cutter+ accessory
